The
Chaplaincy Team
The
spiritual care of patients, relatives, friends, staff and volunteers
is catered for by a multi denominational team. The team is available
for everyone, whether religious or not.
Care
for Patients, Families and Friends
Members
of the chaplaincy team pay regular visits to the hospice to meet
with patients, their families and friends. We are also there on
Sundays when we will visit patients for prayers or Holy Communion.
The
hospice has a Chapel which can be used for prayer, meditation or
just a ‘place to be’.
People
of Other Faiths
There
is a quiet room in the hospice with a copy of the Qur’an and
prayer mats.
The
direction of AL-KAAHBA is identified in all areas of the hospice.
Our
Work at Dr Kershaw’s
The
experience of a life-threatening illness often leads people to examine
their life, relationships, their hopes and their fears, to talk
about their loss and hope, and to seek for a new equilibrium and
understanding.
Chaplains
work with patients, families and friends at whatever part of their
journey feels right for them, and also support and resource medical
and nursing staff in their provision of spiritual care.
In
May each year, we hold a Service of Thanksgiving and Remembrance
for the families and friends of patients who have died during the
year, and hope that this helps people on their journey through grief.
Each
December we hold an outdoor Light up a Life service. Carols are
sung and a large tree is lit with thousands of lights. |
