Services_ Complementary Therapies

The Hospice is able to offer a varied range of complementary therapies to patients. Therapies are delivered by a team of volunteers who hold a relevant qualification for their area of practice and give their time freely for the benefit of the hospice patients.

Holistic Therapies

The therapies are designed to complement conventional medical treatment and are carried out in a warm comfortable quiet environment primarily to help patients:

· Relax and ease stress
· Feel good about themselves
· Cope with symptoms

Treatments Available

· Aromatherapy & Therapeutic Massage
· Indian Head Massage
· Reflexology
· Reiki

Treatments are offered daily subject to availability and qualification of the therapists present.

Basic aromatherapy oils are used, if appropriate, and under consultation with the medical staff. All treatments are carried out in the therapy room or on the 24 hour care ward at the hospice.

Hairdressing, manicures and pedicures are also offered if required subject to availability.

Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation

Dr Kershaw’s Hospice has neither the necessary facilities nor the resources to undertake advanced cardiopulmonary resuscitation. In an emergency however, all other appropriate measures will be taken.
